Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and President Bashar Assad of Syria underlined the economic cooperation between the two countries to reconstruct the war torn country of Syria. The two heads of states made the firm vow during a conversation by phone on Saturday.
The Iranian President stressed the continuity of war on terror in the region, reassuring his Syrian counterpart that the Islamic Republic of Iran will support the Syrian government and nation in this cause.
“Some western countries and their followers in the region were in illusion that the ISIL terrorist will conquer Iraq and Syria and continue their inhumane crimes and destruction for years, in line with their interests,” said the Iranian President after offering congratulations upon the occasion of the downfall of the ISIL terrorist group in Syria.
He affirmed that the two nation of Iran and Syria did a great job hand-in-hand in the course of the past couple of years which Syria grappling with terrorists.
“Every successful step in Syria’s war against terrorist makes Iranian people happy the same way it makes Syrians happy,” reiterated President Rouhani, “the strategic relations between Iran and Syria will keep in place as they are in interests of both nations,” said the Iranian head of state.
“The future of Syria should be decided by Syrian great nation without foreigners’ intervention,” he added. “Those who think that power vacuum in Syria will give way to decision for the future of Syria are advocating an impractical solution,” he rejected the idea that Assad should leave before finding any alternative for him.
“For taking the next steps the central government in Damascus should be strengthened to be strong enough to go through this transitory period,” stated the Iranian president.
“At the same time we believe that Syrian opposition groups should take advantage of this opportunity to have their own share in the future paradigm of power in Syria,” he highlighted.
The Iranian president then touched upon the successful Sochi summit and said, “Sochi summit, hosted by Russian president, and attended by the presidents of Iran and Turkey was a proper move at proper time.”
“The three countries in Sochi agreed to let national congress of Syrian dialogue be held as an appropriate measure of this stage of events to solidify the stability and security in Syria,” said the Iranian president.
