TEHRAN, Nov. 15 (MNA) – Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mirko Šarović, and Iran’s Ambassador to Sarajevo, Mahmoud Heidari, stressed the need to expand bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

Early into the joint session which was held in the Bosnian capital, Šarović shared sympathies with families of victims of the recent earthquake in western Iran and voiced condolences over the bitter incident. The official also wished immediate healing for those wounded and injured.

Minister of foreign trade and economic relations of Bosnia went on to express his country’s readiness to bolster trade and economic relations with Iran saying “the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina is determined to expand ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all sectors.”

He further emphasized the need to remove existing barriers asserting “Bosnian officials will spare no effort in tackling all bottlenecks.”

Mahmoud Heidari, the Iranian Ambassador to the European country, called for development of economic cooperation between the two sides; “statistics reveal that volume of trade turnover between Iran and Bosnia has taken up a growing trend over the past two years though the process needs to be accelerated,” he underlined.

The two sides at the meeting later exchanged views on recent measures taken in line with reinvigoration of trade and economic interactions between Tehran and Sarajevo.

Šarović and Heidari referred to visits of trade delegations of the two countries in recent months and underscored that similar steps, along with joint sessions, could pave the path for boosting economic ties between the two countries.

The meeting also reviews Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) inked between Iran and Bosnia in recent years and sought venues for finalizing certain agreements.
