TEHRAN, Oct. 26 (MNA) – Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi has been officially welcomed by Iran’s first Vice-President Es’hagh Jahangiri at Sa’adabad Complex on Thursday.

Heydar al-Abadi, heading a high-level delegation, was welcomed by Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Mohammad Shariatmadari at the airport Wednesday night.

During his one-day visit, the Iraqi prime minister is scheduled to meet with Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei, President Hassan Rouhani, and Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.

His visit to Tehran follows on the heels of his Wednesday trip to Ankara.

On this regional tour, Al-Abadi is accompanied by ministers of interior, oil, planning, electricity, national security advisor and a number of other senior officials.

This is Abadi’s second regional tour this week, with the first one including Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan as his destinations, aimed at conferring ways to expand bilateral relations and presenting Iraq’s viewpoint on the future of the region. 

During his visit to Riyadh, the two sides agreed to resolve differences and work together to boost trade following the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council meeting which opened in the Saudi capital on Sunday.
