Head of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi, who is on a four-day visit to Hanoi, made the remarks at a meeting with the Vietnamese Foreign Minister Phạm Bình Minh on Tuesday afternoon.
The senior Iranian MP voiced optimism that efforts of officials and authorities in the two countries will soon elevate volume of trade turnover between Tehran and Hanoi to as high as two billion dollars.
Head of Iran-Vietnam friendship parliamentary group later conferred on regional developments, adding “once the ISIL terrorist group was defeated, the US sought to create a new crisis zone in the region by supporting the referendum on Iraqi Kurdistan, though their sinister plot was foiled thanks to vigilance of Iraqi people and leaders as well as cooperation of Iran and Turkey with the neighboring country.”
“The US is dishonest in the fight against terrorism since its support of extremists and Takfiri groups has brought about the ongoing difficulties inside the region,” he underlined.
Later at the meeting, Vietnam’s FM Phạm Bình Minh said Hanoi was after deepening and strengthening bilateral ties with Tehran in all sectors; “visits of various top-ranking delegations in recent years indicate firm determination of the two countries to bolster relations,” he added.
“Over the past few years, bilateral cooperation between the two sides has developed significantly and Vietnam will spare no effort to realize the envisaged goals by leaders of the two countries," he stressed.
Bình Minh went on to describe the visit of the Iranian delegation to Hanoi as an invaluable opportunity for becoming familiar with capacities and capabilities of the two parties.
