Head of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi, while noting that Iraq’s central government had brought Kirkuk region under control, said the important issue was to prevent emergence of a new Israel in the region.
“Given that independence of northern Iraq proves meaningless in the absence of Kirkuk, the Iraqi government entered the region and gained control over it without bloodshed.”
He went on to state that Kirkuk remained the oil and economic center of northern Iraq and its affairs were directly related to the central government of the Arab country.
“In fact, due to the set of recent events and blocking of KRG’s airspace and land borders by the central government of Iraq, referendum, independence and fragmentation of Iraq are all failed projects,” Boroujerdi highlighted.
The Iranian MP later underscored that Masoud Barzani had to take responsibility for all recent incidents in the Iraqi Kurdistan.
Virtually, the project of dividing Iraq has failed in view of Kirkuk developments, stressed Boroujerdi asserting that “within the framework of the Iraqi constitution, Iraq had allocated certain powers to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) though greed was the driving force of new developments.”
At the end of his remarks, the official warned those who follow encouragements of the Israeli regime that disintegration of Iraq was utterly impossible.
