Early on Sunday, the free-style wrestling competitions of AIMAG (the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games) kicked off in Turkmenistan’s capital city of Ashgabat, with competitors of four weight categories racing for the medal podium.
Iranian wrestler Mojtaba Gelij won the gold medal in the 97 kilogram weight category. The other Iranian sportsman Hossein Elyasi grabbed the gold medal in 74 kilogram weight class.
Nader Hajaghnia and Farzad Amouzad Khalil were the two other Iranian athletes of free-style outfit who brought home some medals for their country winning the bronze medals of 57 and 65 kilogram weight classes, respectively.
Earlier, Esmaeil Amiri (68kg), Ghasem Dazi (75kg), and Habibollah Torabi (82kg) won bronze medals at traditional wrestling category of 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
Since September 16, the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games is underway in Turkmenistan‘s capital city of Ashgabat. The tournament is scheduled to wrap up on September 27.
The Iranian outfit attending the fifth Asian Indoor and Martial Art Games is made up of 214 sportswomen and sportsmen, taking part in the games attended by 49 Asian countries and 24 teams from Pacific region.
