TEHRAN, Sep. 06 (MNA) – The Provincial General Director of CHHTOI in Ardabil broke the news that an artefact of copper Stone Age was discovered in Germi County of the northern province.

“The evidence found prove that the ancient city of Barzand had an area of 62 hectares,” recounted Karim Hajizadeh, the General Director of CHHTOI (Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran) in Ardabil Province in north of Iran.  

The local official told the Mehr correspondent in Ardabil that 10 hypotheses have been formed for the next round of exploration in the area.

He also highlighted that from the ancient citadel of the city an area of 250*190 meters is identifiable from the surface.

Three graveyards and a host of artefacts from different historical epoch has also been unearthed in the latest explorations.
