TEHRAN, Jul. 23 (MNA) – Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari held a meeting with Iraqi President Fuad Masum in Baghdad on Sunday.

Jaberi Ansari, who is visiting Iraq to discuss latest regional developments as well as attending the joint political commission, met with President Masum after meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim al-Jaafari and the joint commission session.

Congratulating Iraq on recent achievements in confronting ISIL, Iranian official delivered President Rouhani’s greeting and invited Masum to President Rouhani’s second inauguration. He also briefed Iraqi president on the joint commission and the goals of his visit.

Fuad Masum, for his part, extended gratitude to President Rouhani and hailed Iran’s presidential elections. Masum, further, underlined that his country is fully ready to expand ties with Iran and remove all barriers in this way.

Deputy Foreign Minister Jaberi Ansari arrived in Baghdad on Saturday after paying a visit to Syria and is slated to meet some other senior Iraqi officials on Monday.
