TEHRAN, Jun. 30 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met with French new-elected president Emmanuel Macron in Elisee presidential palace on Friday.

The two sides talked about bilateral and regional issues, including Syrian crisis.

On the third leg of his European tour, Zarif visited the French capital for discussions on ways of promoting Tehran-Paris cooperation on issues of bilateral and regional importance.

At the meeting, Zarif also delivered a written message from Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to the new French head of state.

The new French government, Zarif underlined, is interested in expanding relations with the Islamic Republic and is interested in active participation in regional affairs. In this regard, the Islamic Republic is prepared to work closely.

Before visiting Macron, Zarif met with his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian, and President of the French Senate Gerard Larcher.
