TEHRAN, Jun. 11 (MNA) – The third encounter of Iranian wheelchair basketballers at 2017 Men’s U23 World Wheelchair Basketball Championship (U23WWBC) ended with a defeat against host Canada.

Young para basketball players of Iran faced the Canadian outfit on the third day of the prestigious tournament at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto where the host team won 67-59.

Iran opened the 2017 Men’s U23 World Wheelchair Basketball Championship with a 72-68 victory over Australia and later conceded a 53-71 defeat in the face of Turkey.

In their upcoming encounter, Persian basketballers are scheduled to take up Brazil today on Sunday June 11.

Wheelchair Basketball Canada is hosting the top junior male wheelchair basketball players on the planet from June 8-16, 2017 for the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) Men’s U23 World Wheelchair Basketball Championship.

Iran has been seeded against Australia, Turkey, host Canada, Brazil and Italy in Group 1 while the second group contains national teams of Britain, Germany, Japan, the US, France and South Africa.
