TEHRAN, Jun. 09 (MNA) – Afghan President Ashraf Ghani told Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif that terrorists targeted symbolic places in Tehran, during a bilateral meeting in Kazakh capital city of Astana on Thursday.

“Terrorist targeted two symbolic venues in Tehran which bear great importance for the Iranian nation and it proves their animosity with the Iranian people,” said Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Thursday during his bilateral meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, in Kazakh capital city Astana.

The Afghan president opened the meeting with condemning the Wednesday terrorist attacks on Tehran and offered sympathies to and voicing solidarity with Iran’s Leader, government, and people.

Mr. Ghani also offered greetings over the reelection of Mr. Rouhani as the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“War on terrorists and grouplets is more difficult than war between states and it demands cooperation and contribution from all governments,” affirmed the Afghan top official.

The Iranian foreign minister also in this meeting referred to the strategic talks in Kabul and asserted that committees have been formed to follow up the implementation of agreements.

Exchanging views on the new crisis in the Persian Gulf between some states, the two officials underlined that the region cannot bear another crisis and called for the countries involved to solve their problems through dialogue.

Iran’s Zarif is visiting Astana with an aim to inaugurate Iran’s stand at the International Expo 2017. He is also taking part in the 17th Meeting of the Heads of State Council (HoSC) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
