Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is in Astana, met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi late on Thursday.
The Chinese senior diplomat condemned the Wednesday terrorist attack on Tehran and offered sympathies to and solidarity with Iranian nation and government over the loss of a dozen of innocent civilians in the incident.
He also thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for all the supports for the Belt and Road initiative.
Referring to the successful holding of presidential election in Iran, Mr. Wang Yi congratulated President Rouhani’s reelection as the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The top Chinese diplomat also reaffirmed China’s support for Iran’s membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The two sides also discussed a couple of issues of bilateral interests including banking relations, export of Iran’s petrochemical products to China, the meetings of the officials of the two countries, the new crisis between some Persian Gulf states, and the implementation of the nuclear deal, signed in Vienna on July 14, 2015, between Ira and 5+1, dubbed as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
