TEHRAN, Apr. 24 (MNA) – Iran Chamber and EU Commission for Agriculture & Rural Development have emphasized on creation of joint enterprises in Central Asia in the field of grain and livestock inputs as well as joint cooperation for joint production of food.

Jerzy Bogdan Plewa, Director General of Directorate-General (DG) for Agriculture and Rural Development in the European Commission, and Ahmad Sadeghian, Head of Agriculture Commission of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA), held a joint session in Tehran.

At the meeting, both parties stressed the need to conduct joint venture in Central Asia in the field of grain and livestock inputs as well as to launch bilateral collaboration in production of food in view of neighboring markets.

Creation of joint investment companies in Iran with a focus on export-oriented production in areas of halal protein products including milk, meat and eggs, technology transfer, training and research in various sectors of livestock, poultry and fish industries in addition to establishment of giant joint firms for export management, water management, seed and planting patterns were other issued of interests raised at the meeting.

Main objectives of Directorate-General (DG) for Agriculture and Rural Development in the European Commission, whose directors have recently visited Iran, include helping farmers to produce sufficient quantities of safe food, produced respecting EU norms on sustainability, environmental rules, animal welfare, traceability, etc., providing farm businesses with support systems to help stabilize their incomes in the face of less predictable production conditions, facilitating investment in a sustainable, modern farming sector, maintaining viable rural communities, with diverse economies as well as creating and maintaining jobs throughout the food chain.
