TEHRAN, Apr. 04 (MNA) – National table tennis players of Iran will depart Tehran for Wuxi of China Tuesday evening to participate in Asian Table Tennis Championships 2017.

The Asian tournament marks the first event in which Persian paddlers will take part in the new Iranian calendar year. Hosted by China, the Asian Table Tennis Championships will be competed in team, individual and double divisions and will run from April 09-16.

Iran’s hopes are pinned on Afshin Nouruzi, Amir Ahmadian, Miaad Lotfollahnasabi, Hamidreza Taherkhani as well as Arvin Rooyintan as decided by the technical committee of the Iranian Federation of Table Tennis.

The Iranian squad began a training camp on March 27 and have been preparing for the Asian extravaganza since then.

National ping pong players are scheduled to leave for China today at 10:00 p.m. Tehran local time in order to be present at the event’s venue three days before it kicks off.

Mohammad Reza Miralmasi will lead the Iranian national team as the head coach.

The Asian Table Tennis Championships is a biennial table tennis tournament regarded as continental championships by International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).
