TEHRAN, Mar. 28 (MNA) – Moscow State University has awarded Iran’s President Rouhani with an honorary doctorate degree.

During a special ceremony in Moscow on Tuesday morning, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani received an honorary doctorate from Moscow State University.

Speaking at the ceremony which was attended by a large number of professors and students, Rector of Moscow State University (MSU) Victor Antonovich Sadovnichy said the honorary degree is granted to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani in recognition of his services and measures on the path of strengthening and expanding scientific and academic relations between Iran and Russia.

He asserted that granting of the honorary doctorate followed approval of the Academic Council of the Russian university.

Iran’s Rouhani appreciated receiving of the honorary degree from MSU before outlining the most important international issues in a speech addressed to a gathering of professors and students.

Hassan Rouhani landed in Moscow on Monday afternoon at the official invitation of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The Iranian President is slated to conduct official talks with the president of the Russian Federation in Kremlin in order to discuss bilateral, regional and international ties between the two countries.
