TEHRAN, Mar. 05 (MNA) – Deputy Foreign Minister Araghchi has said Trump had no choice but to renew JCPOA.

Addressing a conference on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the Resistance Economy, Deputy Foreign Minister for International and Legal Affairs Seyyed Abbas Araghchi said “Donald Trump in currently evaluating the JCPOA and the new US government will have announced its stance towards the deal by late May,” stressing that the indications were that the JCPOA would be prolonged.

Araghchi underscored that Trump would form an international consensus against in the absence of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action; “in the current situation, however, the global opinion is against Trump who has therefore no choice but to renew the JCPOA unless he wants Iran out of the international agreement.”.

“Should Trump want to nix the deal, he will suffer from the upcoming costs,” highlighted Iran’s deputy FM calling for great caution in order to prevent all possible detriments to the country in any case whatsoever.

He said one major benefit brought about by the nuclear deal pertained to the country’s oil and gas industry saying “presently, oil contracts worth 80 billion dollars are being negotiated with the only bottleneck being lack of national consensus over the new model of contracts dubbed Iranian Petroleum Contracts (IPCs).”
