TEHRAN, Mar. 01 (MNA) – Iranian Deputy FM who is in Geneva to attend Human Rights Council has warned against politicization of human rights.

Deputy Foreign Minister for International and Legal Affairs Seyed Abbas Araghchi leads a high-ranking delegation in Swiss city where they attended the UN Human Rights Council meeting. Addressing the session, Araghchi highlighted the fact that despite advancements in human rights issues, particularly in concepts and structures, new challenges have emerged in global level. He enumerated radical, extremist Takfirist, Xenophobic and Islamophobic across the world as examples of such news challenges.

He also underlined President Rouhani’s UN-approved proposal of WAVE – World Against Violence and Extremism – urging world countries to support implementation of the resolution.

Deputy FM also stressed the need for reviewing and removing roots of extremism and extremist ideologies which are brainwashing the youths. He urged putting an end to ideological, financial, military and political support for extremist groups like ISIL and called for stopping marginalization or blasphemy of Islam and its followers.

Araghchi slammed world community’s silence and indifference toward the situation in Yemen, condemning destruction of hospitals, mosques, schools and US places by foreign invasions where thousands of civilians and innocent women and children have been killed so far. “International community must take every available step to end this brutal massacre on people.

Iranian diplomat pointed to the Palestinian issue as another global concern where rights of Palestinians are systematically violated by the Israeli regime and its settlements. Meanwhile, he slammed the international organizations for failing in implementation of UN resolutions against the Zionist regime.

Araghchi emphasized that with centuries of Islamic civilization and culture, Iran has always supported and been committed to improvement of human rights and has taken several measures in this regard.

He hailed Citizens’ Rights Charter initiative by President Rouhani as an infrastructural step which is binding for all executive offices.

Araghchi, moreover, censored a UN human rights resolution against Iran as a baseless and unfounded measure. “Politicized use of human rights and its mechanisms within the UN discredits the UN.”

Araghchi stressed that the Human Rights Council must have a mechanism for boosting cooperation on human rights in the world and through constructive dialogue and must avoid being a circle and means of pointing fingers at or accusing one another.
