The Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the accompanying entourage, who are scheduled to attend the 53rd Munich Security Conference in the capital city of German state of Bavaria arrived in the German city early on Friday, reports the media department of Iran’s foreign ministry.
More than 500 participants from across the globe, including more than 25 heads of states and governments, 80 foreign and defense ministers, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Policy, and the NATO general secretary, are expected to attend the 53rd Munich Security Conference (MSC), which is officially to begin on Friday. Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs is one of the world’s major figures who are supposed to address the convention.
The 2017 edition of the conference is expected to concentrate on the future relationship of NATO with the United States under the administration of New US President Trump, relations with Russia, the conflict in Syria, the crisis in Ukraine, terrorism, extremism, security of health, security of energy, crisis in Korean peninsula, the Arab world problems, and cyber-security.
In addition to addressing the conference, sitting the forums, and holding bilateral meetings with world’s decision makers, the Iranian chief of diplomacy is also slated to meet with the Iranian scientists and compatriots residing in Germany. He will also share the table with the executives and CEOs of some major German giants of industry trade.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi are among the top officials comprising FM Zarif’s delegation to the event.
