TEHRAN, Feb. 05 (MNA) – Head of Czech-Slovak-Iranian Chamber of Commerce has told Mehr News Iran offers dazzling investment opportunities with energy sector as the foremost sector Czech and Slovak businesses show interest.

Mr. Jan Kavan also highlighted that power plant industry in Iran was the second field where Czech and Slovak industry moguls would seek to invest and to export technological know-how; “with the fast-growing number of consumers, Iran would renew its decades-old power plant to incorporate new technologies to boost generation and decrease environmental damage, on which our expertise show an interest,” he added.

“In my last meeting with deputy-Energy Minister, I found that there had been ample opportunities to work in Iran; petrochemical is such sector which would need Czech and Slovak technical assistance with repair and maintenance; a member industrial group of the Chamber is currently building a power plant in Iraq and seek a trade partner from Iran to help with the process,” Kavan told Mehr News.

He also said that Iran’s auto-making industry would also be a field for Czech automakers, since the industry contributed to 20 per cent of the total industrial activities; “we are currently planning a session where officials of Skoda, Czech’s major automaker, owned by German Volkswagen, could restore past relations which they ended in 2006; in terms of air industries, we are working on establishing direct Tehran-Prague flights which had been on agenda on last year’s visit by Mohamamd Javad Zarif to Prague and the Chamber session,” he said.

“The sheer diversity of Iran’s agricultural products and relatively high quality surprised us and put us in a track to seek ways to import Iranian food and agricultural products; transportation also provides a sector where Iran could cooperate with Czech Republic and Slovakia Republic; we are discussing export of public transport buses to Iran; with sanctions on banking relatively eased, now the problem of money transfer and other operations had largely been solved,” Kavan concluded.

Czech-Slovak-Iranian Chamber of Commerce (hereafter the Chamber) is located in Prague and was founded in the summer 2015 on the basis of the relevant paragraphs of the Civil Code by a group of major entrepreneurs. Its central purpose is to develop trade relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic by supporting the import and export of commodities and services and by providing multifaceted support services to entrepreneurs.
