TEHRAN, Feb. 03 (MNA) – The Head of Strategic Researches Center at Iran’s Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati received the visiting Armenian Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan in Tehran on Thursday.

“We are unhappy that the Karabakh conflict is still unresolved and has shadowed over Iran-Armenia-Azerbaijan ties and hope that it would be solved in a fair way,” said Ali Akbar Velayati, the Head of the Strategic Research Center at the Expediency Council of Iran, during his meeting with visiting Armeniaian Minister of Defense Vigen Sargsyan on Thursday in Tehran.

Affirming that he is aware of some interventions of “the Zionist regime” in the region, Velayati warned the Armenian official that, “we should be watchful of some foreigners’ meddling in the region, alike the Zionist regime, to prevent any fire sparked in our region.”

He voiced hope for Iran’s successful mediation between Azerbaijan and Armenia to restore the historical relations and interactions between Iran and Armenia. “The cooperation between Iran, Russia, and Armenia is of the regional cooperation that could be continued like the past.”

Sargsyan, for his part in this meeting, offered congratulations over the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran and highlighted that the good volume of cooperation between Iran and Armenia, along with the common challenges ahead of the both countries provide the good reason for expansion of bilateral interactions between Tehran and Yerevan.
