“We hope the relations lead to more stability and security in the region,” Zarif underlined in his meeting with Armenian Minister of Defense Vigen Sargsyan on Wednesday.
Zarif commended Tehran-Yerevan ties as exemplary “in a world buring in flames of sectarian and religious tensions” and urged further cooperation to deal with such threats.
Deeming President Rouhani’s recent visit to Armenia positive and constructive, Zarif said bilateral ties are developing in all levels and underlined transit as a proper field for cooperation.
Viger Sargsyan, for his part, asserted the importance of bilateral ties as a means for reinforcing the relations in all possible fields.
“Bilateral ties with Islamic Republic of Iran, as an influential player in the region, is prominent for Armenia,” the minister said adding that Rouhani’s visit has opened a new chapter in Tehran-Yerevan ties.
