Concurrent with the countdown to operation of phase one in Setareh Khalij Fars refinery, the first naphtha shipment of Iran’s largest gas condensate refinery was exported to a Persian Gulf littoral state.
Accordingly, National Iranian Oil Company has sent a 280,000-barrel cargo of naphtha to the UAE while a second cargo is being loaded for export purposes.
With implementation of the first phase of Setareh Khalij Fars with a gasoline output capacity of 120 thousand barrels per day, the country’s overall production is expected to reach 10 to 12 million liters per day alleviating the need for imports of Euro-4 compliant gasoline products.
Moreover, as announced by National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC), two new gasoline production projects will also come on stream in the present year in Bandar Abbas and Lavan oil refineries.
Deputy Iranian Oil Minister Abbas Kazemi has recently stated that Iran’s will practically end gasoline imports in the next Iranian calendar year (to begin March 21).
“Consumption statistics show that despite the 3.9% rise in average gasoline consumption during the first seven months of the present year, consumption growth will decrease by two per cent by the end of the year.”
The distillation unit of Setareh Khalij Fars Condensate Refinery, which has recently come into operation, enjoys the capacity to produce 120 thousand barrels of gas condensate, 12 million liters of naphtha, 4.5 million liters of gas oil, one million liters of kerosene as well as 300 tons of liquefied gas.
Upon complete implementation of the largest Iranian refinery, the country’s daily production capacity for gasoline and gas oil will rise by 35 and 14 million liters, respectively. Other products of Setareh Khalij Fars include four million liters of liquefied gas, three million liters of jet fuel and 130 tons of sulfur. The refinery will enjoy the capacity to store about 11 million barrels of petroleum products.
