Mr. Ali Shamkhani and Syrian delegation headed by country’s FM Walid al-Moallem and National Security Bureau chief Brig. Gen. Ali Mamlouk on Saturday. Shamkhani believed moderate opposition fighters should join the legitimate government in Syria in negotiation table, and that with Aleppo liberated and a modest ceasefire now ruling the country, albeit with few cases of violence yet, the battle would continue unremittingly against terrorists; “liberation of Aleppo was crucial in armed opposition’s decision to welcome political talks; however, with the precedent set by these groups where they engaged in violence against government in times of ceasefire, their movements should be under strict surveillance during possible talks,” he told the meeting.
“No initiative should weaken the central government of Assad or undermine such government rule over Syrian territories; nor would any such initiative recognize foreign military occupation of Syria; such initiative will be aborted before being effective,” said Leader’s representative to Supreme National Security Council; “Fath al-Sham Front and ISIL however will remain permanently under the fire; we call all moderate opposition fighters to join talks with Syrian government to secure a place in political process of the future.”
“A wide and comprehensive national unity accord would prepare grounds for an equally encompassing election; these are only speculations, since governments who are supporters of terrorism would shortly bring back the status quo ante and Europe will again face the spillover effect of terrorism and refugees in its heartland,” Shamkhani told the meeting.
Shamkhani elsewhere in his speech condemned Zionist regime for illicit activities to fuel islamophobia amid conflict and turmoil, just to guarantee that Palestinian issue would not resurface as a thorn in the side of the Islamic world and as a major issue.
Al-Moallem and Mamlouk for their parts presented the meeting with reports of the latest situation on the ground in Syria. They shared with Shamkhani the belief that terrorism would face still severe fight by Syrian government and the resistance front; “neither terrorists nor foreign intervention will be allowed under any circumstance whatsoever,” they emphasized.
