The third edition of World Wrestling Club Cup was convened in Kharkov city of Ukraine from November 30 to December 1 with the US Titan Mercury team winning the title followed by Iran’s Bimeh Razi who finished vice-champion.
Title defender Bimeh Razi suffered a 3-4 defeat in the hands of Titan Mercury, winner of two titles in the sportive event.
A noteworthy victory was achieved in the final round by Iran’s Abbas Tahan in the face of America’s world and Olympic gold medalist Kyle Snyder in the 97-kilogram weight division.
In the bronze medal match, Zdorovye club of the host country pulled out a 6-2 victory over the Armenian representative and stood on the third podium.
Iran was also represented at the tournament by Setaregan freestyle wrestling club who landed in the sixth place overall.
The top three teams received $25,000, $15,000 and $10,000 of cash prize respectively in addition to medals and diplomas.
The competitions were conducted under UWW Regulations in 2016 Free style World Cup in 8 weight categories including 57-61-65-70-74-86-97-125 kg.
