TEHRAN, Nov. 29 (MNA) – President Hassan Rouhani and his Russian counterpart exchanged views on Syrian developments and bilateral cooperation on oil and gas over phone on Monday.

President Rouhani, while extending his gratitude to Vladimir Putin over his condolence message on the train crash, underlined the positive trend of Tehran-Moscow economic ties and urged both parties for paving the way further.

Noting the establishment of Iran-Russia Joint Commission in Tehran in near future, Rouhani expressed hope for the removal of any possible obstacle in expansion of ties through the commission.

Rouhani also announced that the next Round of Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan trilateral meeting will be hosted by Tehran accelerating the trilateral and regional cooperation.

“The final solution for Syrian crisis is accessible only through political talks and respecting Syrian nation’s rights and will,” reaffirmed Rouhani noting the Syrian crisis and common stands of Iran and Russia in fighting terrorism.

President Vladimir Putin, for his part, also stressed on Moscow’s determination to further expand its ties with Tehran in all fields, adding that the close relations between senior officials of the two countries has resulted in significant increase of trade volume and called for continuation of the positive trend.

“The upcoming session of Joint Commission would create more harmony for expansion of ties and would prove promising regarding great nuclear, oil, gas and transportation projects,” said Putin adding that Russian firms are keen on expanding ties with Iran.

Russian president also noted Tehran-Moscow cooperation on regional issues “Iran and Russia are partners in helping to settle the crises in the region; and would continue close cooperation to ensure normalization of the situation in Syria,” said Putin.

Presidents of Iran and Russia, considering the latest developments in global oil market, agreed to cooperate stressing the need for further collaboration among oil producers.
