TEHRAN, Nov. 02 (MNA) – A transport cooperation agreement was inked between Tehran and Moscow on the sidelines of the eighth Iran-Russia Joint Transportation Committee meeting.

At the conclusion of the eighth round of Iran-Russia Joint Transportation Committee meetings, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for transport cooperation was inked by Iran's Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Taghizadeh and Alexey Tsydenov, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation.

Aiming to explore and prevent barriers to the development of transportation between the two countries, the three-day event included four working groups covering transportation issues and a working group to draft documents.

During the MoU-signing ceremony, Iran’s Taghizadeh said agreements were reached between the two sides in four transport modes including rail, water, road and air.

“An efficient transport mode is expected to emerge among various transport modalities of Iran and Russia,” he underlined.

The Iranian deputy roads minister further called for holding similar meetings to deal with a variety of issues including taking advantage of both sides’ capabilities and experiences in macro and multi0sectoral areas, integration of transport as well as transport economy.

Representatives from subsidiary organizations of Iranian Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and some private sector representatives from Iran met their Russian counterparts in the meeting.
