TEHRAN, Nov. 01 (MNA) – President Hassan Rouhani said Iran welcomes deepening of Iran-Cyprus ties using all existing capacities.

“Expansion of Iran and Cyprus relations would connect Middle East, Europe and Africa,” said President Rouhani while meeting with President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus Demetris Syllouris on Tuesday.

Noting that it is necessary to urge Iranian and Cypriot private sectors to boost trade and economic ties, Rouhani underlined “Iran and Cyprus could benefit from capacities of different fields including road, aerial and navy transportation as well as technical services.”

Iranian president also highlighted the diverse cultural, historical and natural attractions of the two countries and using them to develop tourism, cultural and parliamentary ties, adding, “there is no obstacle in way of developing Iran and Cyprus ties with regards to their positive background.”

Touching upon the turbulent situation in region, Iranian president emphasized “regional tensions have roots in foreign intervention that seeks benefiting from the conflict; to reach development and prosperity in the countries of the region, there is no way but establishing stable peace and security and everybody is responsible to help and contribute to this cause.”

President Rouhani voiced deep regret that millions of innocent civilians are dislocated in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and Libya facing many difficulties and predicaments.

 Cyprus’s Demetris Syllouris, for his part, said that development of bilateral ties in areas of trade, economy, and culture between the two countries of Iran and Cyprus will contribute to the spread of stability and serenity in the region.

“Cyprus is ready and determined to improve the level of cooperation and relations with Iran to develop bilateral relations and solve regional issues and problems,” highlighted the president of the House of Representatives of Cyprus, “Iran is a big country with its own history and civilization and developing cultural relations will positively affect the trade relations and the private sector for the cause of developing and bolstering bilateral ties.”

The Cypriots politician reassured that the Middle Eastern problems are not resolved through militancy, “everybody should know that the military solution create new problems in the region and the only way out is a logical and political solution.”
