The fourth day of the 25th edition of Fédération Internationale de Basket-ball (FIBA) Asia Champions Cup began today Chenzhou Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium in China where Iran’s outfit defeated Qatar’s Al-Rayyan in four straight sets (25-8, 19-17, 27-10 and 18-11) to pull out an 89-46 victory.
Al-Rayyan conceded a defeat against the Iranian club while it had finished vice-champion in the previous edition of the tournament. Qatari basketball players had previously breezed past Indian rivals and lost to clubs from Taiwan and Lebanon.
Petrochimi Bandar Imam, however, celebrated their third consecutive victory since they had thrashed Pauian Archiland of Taiwan and ONGC of India in earlier matches.
Iran’s representative had also faced an off draw for Monday, as the third day of the Asian tournament.
Attended by 10 teams, the 25th edition of FIBA Asia Champions Cup started in Chenzhou of China on October 8 and will conclude on October 16, 2016.
Petrochimi Bandar Imam has been drawn in Pool A along with Lebanon’s Al Riyadi, Indian ONGC, Qatar’s Al Rayyan and Pauian Archiland of Chinese Taipei.
Pool B comprises Iraqi Al Shorta, Kazakhstan’s Barsy Atyrau, Malaysian Westports Malaysia Dragons, Al Ahli of the United Arab Emirates and China’s Xinjiang Flying Tigers.
