TEHRAN, Sep. 26 (MNA) – Parliament speaker told a press conference in Tehran the US had been deceptive in her deal of ceasefire with Russia, paying only lip service to fighting terrorism.

Ali Larijani received his Syrian counterpart Hadiya Khalaf Abbas on Monday and they participated a joint press conference. Larijani welcomed Mrs. Abbas to Iran to begin the press conference; “a session with Syrian parliament speaker met about the latest developments on the ground in Syria; Mrs. Abbas provide invaluable information, along the emphasis by both sides to improve relations,” he told the presser. “Since the beginning of the crisis, Iran had been voicing its position of advocating a diplomatic and political solution to the crisis in Syria. On the face of this, other countries however, disgruntled with the ongoing exacerbating situation for their proxies, fueled the raging fire of the crisis.”

Lairjani bereaved that in recent Russia-US pact of ceasefire, the latter would have appeared to be acting out of rationality and effectively to contribute to betterment of the situation; however, “they proved deceptive and recent episode of targeting Syrian government forces last week belied their pose of fighting terrorism.”

He criticized the objections leveled against efforts to bring democracy to Syria; “those states critic of our conduct would balk at the idea of a democratic election in their own countries; after 5 years of crisis, now the international community should well understand that terrorism would engulf the US and EU borders as well and would not only plague Syria; we believe west had been promoting a double-standard in Syria, at the same time supporting terrorism, while claiming fighting terrorists,” Mr. Larijani told the press.

“In Iraq, the Islamic Republic of Iran responded to a genuine call by the government of Mr. al-Ebadi, where Iran proved effective in pushing back ISIL from the majority of its territories; it was so in Syria as well where the situation also improved for Assad,” he asserted. “We invest much hope in a realistic view of the event by countries engaged in Syria as agents worsening the situation.”
