TEHRAN, Aug. 31 (MNA) – Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov will hold talks with Iran’s deputy FM for legal and international Affairs Abbas Araghchi Wed. afternoon in Tehran.

Ryabkov had been Russia’s senior negotiator during Tehran's nuclear talks and is a member of Iran and the 5+1 special commission.

Iran and Russia are cooperating in the production of stable isotopes in accordance with the Vienna agreements on Fordo, and the Islamic Republic is currently in the finalization stage of exporting 39 tons of heavy water to the Eurasian country.

Iran set up a pilot plant for production of stable isotopes on Aug. 29 in Uranium Conversion Facility (UCF) of Isfahan, a move that adds Iran to the short list of global producers including Germany, Russia and Ireland. According to Deputy Head of the Atomic Energy Organization Asghar Zarean, the project will enter the commercial phase in the next three months in order to meet domestic demands as well as to provide grounds for exports of raw materials for the production of stable isotopes.

Meanwhile, Iran and Russia are also in talks for the construction of two nuclear power plants the costs of which has been estimated at about $10 billion.

Apparently, the financial issues were one of the major obstacles facing the agreement, which have recently been resolved under President Rouhani’s favorable order for providing necessary resources for the construction of these units.

According to the AEOI spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi, Iran has completed 7 national nuclear projects with cooperation of the IAEA in the feilds related to nuclear plants, spent fuel, nuclear security, radiopharmaceuticals, reactors and heavy water, and at least 9 more research projects are currently under way.
