Talking in a seminar to explore joint economic opportunities between Iran and Venezuela on Sunday, Zarif said the Iranian and Venezuelan nations share good memories of confronting hegemonic policies of foreign forces in long years.
Iran’s FM pointed to the warm and intimate relations between the two countries, adding Iran and Venezuela seek an independence spirit and resistance which could be developed into even more deeper and strategic policies in future.
Zarif said the presence of two vice presidents and more than six ministers of the Venezuelan cabinet in the seminar indicated the importance of Tehran-Caracas ties.
He underlined that Iran highly regards relations with Latin American countries, in particular the progressive and peace-loving countries in the region.
Pointing to the Iranian delegation, including banking, shipping, petrochemical industries, agriculture, oil, energy and export guarantee sectors, Zarif said they are ready to cooperate with their Venezuelan counterparts.
The Venezuelan Foreign Minister Delcy Rodríguez, for her part, called Zarif and his delegation’s visit to Venezuela the sign of very solid and strategic relations created between Tehran and Caracas during the time of Hugo Chavez.
She underlined that Iran and Venezuela hold strong multilateral and bilateral relationships with each other but they must be further extended.
She also said Iran and Venezuela are two active members of international bodies such as the OPEC and the Non-Aligned Movement.
