On Wednesday local time, Zarif and his counterpart Guillaume Jean Sebastien Long discussed and signed the deals in Foreign Ministry Palace in Quito. Banking transactions deal was signed by head of Iran’s Central Bank international relations office Hossein Yaqoubi and Rodrigo Landeta Parra, Ecuador’s Central Bank Governor. Other agricultural deals were also signed by respective officials.
The three deals, officials say, would seek to facilitate and improve Ecuador’s agricultural product exports with Iran as acting distributor of these products in Central Asia and the Middle East.
Ecuador is a major producer of agricultural products and food in Latin America. Its major part of banana exports to Iran have been handled by a third country due to improper cooperation agreements.
