“From the very beginning, the Islamic Republic of Iran initiated the talks with 5+1 with full sincerity to reach a fair, just, and logical solution,” said Ali Larijani, the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament in his meeting with visiting Norwegian Foreign Minister Børge Brende, on Wednesday, in Tehran, “and the brokered Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was the pinnacle of Iran’s honest approach.”
The top MP regretted that the US has not been committed to the agreement and the nation of Iran is expecting the western side to fulfill theirs to make the results of the agreement tangible.
“Naturally the European countries like Norway can play an active role in making the process a path of success,” highlighted the Speaker, “we are interested in developing cooperation with countries like Norway to establish regional stability and solve dangerous crises of the region like the fight against terrorism.”
Larijani listed war on terror and resolution of regional crises as the areas of possible cooperation between Iran and European countries.
“Saudi Arabia has audaciously imposed war on Yemen for a year and some months,” Larijani rapped Saudi invasion of Yemen, “It has massacred Yemeni women and children as the top priority of its agenda.”
He also criticized the violation of human rights in Bahrain and condemned the infringement of citizens’ civil rights in the Arab country. He voiced regret that the autocratic behaviors of these states have affected the stability and peace of the whole region.
Larijani described terrorism as a sinister phenomenon and recounting the measures of the Islamic Republic of Iran against terrorism in Syria, Iraq, and the whole region, called for more active involvement of the regional and global forces against it.
“Norway believes that Iran has been committed to the JCPOA,” said Norwegian Foreign Minister Børge Brende for his part, “we are optimistic about the implementation of the JCPOA and, for our part, Norway follows the policy of proper implementation of the JCPOA.”
Extending gratitude for all the efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran in fighting terrorism in Iraq, Brende said that Norway firmly believes that Iran will continue its role in Iraq till the eradication of the ISIL and establishment of stability.
He also voiced hope that banking and trade ties with the European Union will be eased by following the letters of the JCPOA.
