RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 17 (MNA) – Iran's super heavyweight weightlifter Behdad Salimi while breaking the world record in the snatch weightlifting of the Men's over 105-kilogram class at the Rio 2016 Olympics Games, was later disqualified in the clean and jerk by a controversial decision by the jury.

Salimi made his first attempt at 245kg, but the lift was disallowed, and while his second was given a green light, it was then overturned by the jury. Clearly upset, Salimi missed his third try and opened the door for Georgia’s Talakhadze who secured the gold medal by lifting 247kg.
