QESHM, Aug. 03 (MNA) – UNESCO officials will arrived in Qeshm Island to examine the credentials the island authorities have provided as supporting documents for the island’s Geopark to be registered in World Heritage Site.

Alireza Amri Kazemi, a senior adviser to head of Qeshm Geopark told Mehr News local correspondent that UNESCO officials would assess the material evidence on the ground in the island; “they will arrive in August 5 and will document the Geopark during field evaluation in the road to ultimate approval of the Geopark; the final verdict will be announced in October in Britain during International Conference on Global Geoparks,” he added.

“This will be a difficult test for the island to won the approval and a historic day for the Geopark to enter the World Heritage Site officially by UNESCO; only performance of the Geopark and its field capabilities would won the favor of the evaluators for ultimate verdict,” Amri Kazemi emphasized.
