TEHRAN, Jul. 29 (MNA) – Navid Maghdid, Iranian skier, won the first medal of Iran’s team at FIS Grass Ski Junior World Championships underway in Dizin Ski Resort of northern mountains of Tehran.

At the end of the third day of giant slalom competitions at the FIS Grass Ski Junior World Championships underway in Dizin of Iran, Iranian young skier Navid Maghdid claimed the U20 bronze in the giant slalom.

Navid Maghdid, who ended fourth in the first run of the giant slalom, did his best at the second run and finished second at the second race and won the third place of the combined.

Thirty-eight athletes from eight nations are currently fighting for medals in the season’s highlight event for young Grass Skiing talents.

After the 2010 edition, it is the second time that Iran, the experienced FIS Grass Ski World Cup host, is welcoming the world’s best youngsters born between 1995-2000.

With an Opening Ceremony on July 26, the Championships kicked off before starting with super combined races for both genders which were won by Kristin Hetfleisch from Austria and Martin Bartak from the Czech Republic.

The Championships will be underway with slalom and giant slalom races before being wrapped up with a super-G on Friday, July 29, 2016.
