The two-day APA Committee meeting on Economic and Sustainable Development Affairs was inaugurated in the Pakistani capital Islamabad on Tuesday with the participation of over 50 parliamentary delegations from 19 countries, including Iran.
The meeting was inaugurated by Ali Khorram, Deputy head of the permanent secretariat of the APA Committee on Economic and Sustainable Development Affairs in Tehran, who discussed the objectives of the meeting with the attendees.
Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Reza Rabbani, as well as Speaker of the House Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, discussed the role of Pakistan, as the country hosting the meeting, in helping the APA with economic and sustainable development affairs.
Iran is participating in the meeting with Hossein Sheikholeslam, former director general of the Iranian Parliament’s International Affairs bureau, as well as two MPs, Mohammad Hossein Hosseinzadeh and Fatemeh Zolghadr.
The Committee during the two day proceedings will ponder over issues being faced by the Asian continent in economic prosperity and social development, such as energy, water, employment, poverty, education, environment and health.
During the meeting, members of parliaments from different countries of Asia will offer suggestions and solutions for advancement of the APA Member States. The APA has 41 members and 17 observers.
