TEHRAN, Jul. 25 (MNA) – National Iranian junior handball team prevailed over Uzbekistan in their second preliminary round encounter at 2016 Asian Men's Junior Handball Championship.

Iranian handball players competed against Uzbek rivals on Sunday in the Jordanian capital of Amman obtaining a 37-22 victory.

The showdown marked Iran’s second encounter at group stage of the 15th Asian Men’s Junior Championship, which also marks as a qualification round for IHF Men's Junior World Championship 2017 to be hosted by Algeria.

Junior Iranian team ended the first half with a 19-5 lead though they widened the gap in the second half to chalk up a 37-22 win overall.

Iran’s outfit had previously hammered host Jordan in their opening match on Friday.

Accordingly, Iran cruised to round two remaining atop Group B of the Asian sportive event followed by Jordan who out powered Uzbekistan 29-22.

The Asian tournament kicked off on July 21 in the Jordanian capital and will run through August 01.
