Raul Lozano, Argentine manager of the national squad crossed the name of Zarif, Iran’s main libero from his preliminary list of players from which two other members are to be crossed out to finalize the team for Rio 2016 Olympic Games, where Iran is a new-comer after 52 years of the history of Olympic games. Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro will host the games beginning August 6.
Iran’s 13 players were recalled to the camp; Saeid Marouf, Mehdi Mahdavi, Seyed Mohammad Mousavi, Adel Gholami, Mostafa Sharifat, Shahram Mahmoudi, Amir Ghafour, Farhad Ghaemi, Hamze Zarini, Mohammad Javad Manavinejad, Mojtaba Mirzajanpour, Milad Ebadipour, and Mehdi Marandi were given a chance to become member of the Olympic team.
Lozano still faces a difficult task of crossing out of two other players from among the brilliant names, a challenge he is inevitable to accept. Iran has been placed in Group 2 alongside Russia, Poland, Argentina, Egypt and Cuba.
