“Iran and Italy have deep-seated friendly relations and are presently enjoying a period of prosperity and expansion in their political, economic and cultural ties based on mutual interests,” Laura Boldrini said in her message.
She further called for closer and more effective parliamentary relations with Iran within the framework of interparliamentary cooperation and according to the memorandums of understanding signed between the two countries’ parliaments.
Boldrini also informed her Iranian counterpart of the formation of a Parliamentary Cooperation Group with Iran in Italy’s House of Representatives.
Ali Larijani, who served as a speaker for the previous Parliament, was reinstated for Iran’s 10th Parliament on May 31.
Boldrini has been invited by Larijani to visit Iran, although the exact date for her visit has not yet been decided.
