Brig. Gen. Hossein Salami who was speaking in a seminar on Tuesday underplayed the recent killing of Iranian military advisers along with Syrian government forces in Khan Touman last week by an onslaught of Al-Nusra terrorist group and its allies as ‘temporary transition of positions,’ which ultimately would change to the interest of the Resistance front.
“The Resistance front, an ally of Iran, now dominates the situation on the ground in Syria, and a tactical edge would not bring about large-scale challenge and threat; attempts have been made to retake regions fallen to the Takfirists,” said the IRGC general.
Salami then turned to Islamic Republic of Iran as enjoying excellent strength in terms of security through developing an awareness about the true enemies of the country; “as such, we will continue our support to the downtrodden nations which languish under the tyranny of imperialist powers; the system has been growing in facing the threats, small and large, since the Revolution of 1979, just strong enough to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he told reporters.
Salami believed that the enemies had been well aware of the reality of Iran’s formidable strength; “this power structure will grow even stronger and more dynamic in its path to perfection,” he added, turning to Syrian situation; “the US and EU and their allies have found new realities of the ground in Syria, where old tactics had proved disastrous for their security order,” he emphasized.
“In Iraq, the prospects for security and stability are improved; in Yemen, Saudi Arabia has not found a modicum of success with no concrete results to be seen in the horizon; we believe Islamic Awakening is in its true path, and it will bring them their lost identity,” Salami concluded.
