Iran’s Shahram Arbabi and Hafez Mahdavi had been placed among the nominees to judge at 2016 Rio Olympics had have attended several courses, qualifying tournaments as well as Grand Prix events.
Upon the ending of qualifying tournaments, World Taekwondo Federation Referees' Committee has released the names of 30 refereed who will umpire the taekwondo competitions at the 2016 Olympics with Hafez Mahdavi also appearing on the list.
Previously, Iran’s Mojtaba Nazmdeh had judged at 2000 Sydney Olympics and Shahram Arbabi had previously umpired at 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.
Taekwondo at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro is scheduled to take place from 17 to 20 August at the Carioca Arena 3 inside the Barra Olympic Park in Barra da Tijuca. Around 128 taekwondo fighters are expected to compete in eight weight categories; four for men, and four for women.
Iran national taekwondo team has so far secured four places at the upcoming Olympic Games with Farzan Ashourzadeh (-58kg), Mahdi Khodabakhshi (-80kg), Sajjad Mardani (+80kg) as well as Kimia Alizadeh (-57kg).
