Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad met and talked with his Iranian counterpart Morteza Sarmadi on Monday afternoon discussing the latest developments in Syria following the ceasefire as well as ongoing Geneva talks.
Iran’s Sarmadi appreciated the courageous resistance of the Syrian nation, government and army adding “the Syrian crisis was a plot which was prevented by the same audacious resistance.”
He pointed to the global developments in the transition period asserting “nowdays, one or a few countries would not be sole decision makers as the harmony among Iran, Syria and Russia indicated that global and regional movements can be intelligently led and managed.”
Iranian Foreign Ministry’s first deputy expressed hope towards sweet termination of the crisis; “we believe that the resistance brings about good achievements in favor of Syria as well as peace and stability in the region and the world.”
Faisal Mekdad, for his part, conveyed warm greetings of the Syrian president, government and nation to Iran’s Leader, president and other Iranian authorities appreciating Iran’s support of Syria as well as its efforts in establishing peace and stability in the region.
“Almost a total of 118 countries, each in different ways, were united against the Syrian nation and government while they all failed in their adventure even though they had deployed all terrorists and criminals to Syria,” he emphasized.
Referring to the ceasefire in Syria, Mekdad added “currently, we are faced with opportunities and challenges while we are making efforts to exploit the opportunities one being conducting talks with tens of armed groups inside Syria in order to bring them to the peace process.”
The Syrian deputy FM touched upon the failure of terrorist supporters in Syria maintaining “following years of costly adventure, these countries are admitting to their failure against the will of the Syrian People.”
“Pursuing hysterical policies, some of these countries have turned into a second Zionist regime in the region and have been de facto following the policies of Israel in Syria and the region,” concluded Mekdad.
