TEHRAN, Jan. 10 (MNA) – The top wrestlers at the 2nd Pahlavani International Tournament (Takhti Cup) in Tehran will receive prize money in US dollars.

The International Senior Free style, Greco-Roman and Pahlavani wrestling Tournament (Takhti Cup) will be held on January 14-15, 2016 at the 12,000-seat hall of the Azadi Sports Complex.

In the event, Pahlavani competitions will be held at 70kg and +90kg weight categories the winners of which will receive prize money.

Accordingly, the top wrestler at +90kg will receive $5000 while the winner of 70kg will get $3000 with the second to sixth rankings of both categories receiving $2500, $2000, $1500, $1000 and $500, respectively.

Countries to attend the Free style, Greco-Roman categories include Armenia, Ukraine, Hungary, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Mongolia,Tajikistan, Morocco, Algeria and Turkmenistan

Meanwhile, Estonia, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Poland, Ukraine, Serbia and the Netherlands will take part in Pahlavani competitions.

The tournament is an important annual wrestling event in Iran, held in the memory of the late legendry Iranian wrestler Gholamreza Takhti.

Takhti, the most famous wrestler in the Iranian history, claimed the gold medal in Melbourne 1956 Olympic Games and won two silver medals in 1952 Helsinki and 1960 Rome Olympic Games. He passed away on January 7, 1968.
