TEHRAN, Dec. 09 (MNA) – Iran’s senior nuclear negotiator has said a draft by the IAEA Board of Governors is clear enough to terminate the PMD of Iran’s nuclear program.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi told Iran’s state TV IRIB on Tuesday that Iran’s delegation in Vienna had long and comprehensive discussions with the 5+1 members on the draft of the resolution; “they sought Iran’s position on the draft as the major shareholder of the issue, and we provided them with clear positions,” he told IRIB. “

“The outcome was that the draft was recognized as a proposal by 5+1 to the Board of Governors of the IAEA, on which the Board will seek the votes of the member states; on Monday’s talks, they took into consideration Iran’s positions in preparing the draft as they had did before as well,” he asserted.

“The draft’s provisions are clear enough and it terminates the PMD case of Iran’s nuclear program once and for all; the roadmap signed by Iran and the Agency is recognized as ‘completed’ in the draft, with ensuring that all actions demanded in the roadmap had been carried out fully,” said the deputy foreign minister.

Araghchi also said that the draft would actually change the agenda of the Board; “the past agenda included implementation of the protocol, NPT, and provisions of six UN resolutions against Iran, which now had been fully terminated, with a new agenda replacing it as JCPOA implementation,” he added.

“Yet the more important issue is that it also terminates 12 UN resolutions which were very heavy burden for Iran,” Mr. Araghchi rejoiced to say, inviting all experts and authorized analysts to study the content of the resolutions to give verdict on the very harsh nature of them.

On the question whether the present draft would be the basis for raising future allegations, since it is after all a political decision, and whether it was a final and decisive draft, Araghchi said that the issue of PMD should be separately considered and should not be mingled with issues of the future, since it dealt with the past history of Iran’s nuclear program; “Mr. Amano has in his report the recognition that Iran’s program has had no deviation to nuclear weapons programs, effectively ruling out the past claims that Iran had military intentions; what is important is that the Board of Governors, as the sole decision-making body, will terminate PMD case of Iran’s nuclear program,” he emphasized.
