The tester is believed to enable Iranian power plants to become industrially self-sufficient. Lightning arresters are widely used in electrical substations and power plants with various voltages and discharge currents, and the cost for their purchase and maintenance amounts to billions of dollars.
The invented tester aims at checking and supervising the performance of lightning arrester counters by creating the needed voltage and current that operates the counter and simulating the conditions in which the counters work. As the first tester for lightning arrester counter in the world, this portable device makes the maintenance process of counters, the number of which amounts to millions, extremely convenient. This device will also perform tasks currently done by research facilities, therefore making the maintenance process significantly cost-effective.
