TEHRAN, Nov. 01 (MNA) – The 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships in Doha, Qatar, came to an end with Iranian athletes winning 13 colorful medals.

On the final day of competition (Saturday 31 October), victory in the men’s discus F12 went to Iran’s Saman Pakbaz (46.20m) as the defending champion, Kim Lopez Gonzalez of Spain, had to make do with silver (44.93m). Poland’s Marek Wietecki threw 44.76m for bronze.

Since discus throw will not be a part of Rio Paralympic competitions, gold and silver will not secure a quota; however, Saman Pakbaz had earlier received a ticket to Rio Paralympics by snatching a silver medal in the shot put.

The competitions wrapped up on Saturday October 31 while Iran managed to win 4 gold, 7 silver, 2 bronze as well as 10 Paralympic quotas.

The Iranian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) attended the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships in Doha with 19 athletes.

The Iranian athletes are scheduled to return home today.
