MOSCOW, Oct. 27 (MNA) – President Vladimir Putin spoke on the phone with Saudi King Salman bin Abd al-Aziz al Saud about a possible solution to the conflict in Syria, confirmed the Kremlin on Monday.

The two leaders took into account during their dialog the results of the meeting held on Oct. 23 in Vienna by the Foreign ministers of Russia, the United States, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, as well as the subsequent contacts, added the Kremlin press service.

During their phone debate, the parties assessed the panorama of a traditionally conflict-torn area like the Middle East and showed concern about a worsening of the Israeli-Palestinian situation.

The Saudi king extolled Russia's role in promoting peace processes, added the note published on the Kremlin website.

Also, in a message addressed to participants in a meeting on occasion of the United Nations Day, Putin said that he considers necessary to reinforce the central role of the United Nations in the struggle against terrorism.

Read by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov, the text recalls that 70 years ago, the Allied Countries coordinated efforts at the end of WWII to pave the way for many years of a stable system of international relations.
