TEHRAN, Oct. 20 (MNA) – Iran’s national Taekwondo team, consisting of five taekwondokas, will head to Kazakhstan for Open Taekwondo Championships 2015 - WTF G1.

According to the World Taekwondo Federation’s calendar, G2 tournaments are over and national team needs to take part in two G1 tournaments in order to earn Rio 2016 Olympic quota in two remaining weights.

Held in Kazakhstan and Croatia, the WTF G1 competitions will reward the champions with 10 points and considering the upcoming Grand Prix tournament which will offer 80 points, Iran has a good chance to earn quotas for -68 and -80 weights.

Accordingly, the technical staff of Iran’s national team has decided to take 5 Taekwondokas to Almaty in order to participate in Kazakhstan’s competitions held on October 25 - 28.

Iran’s national team will consist of Behna Asbaghi, Armin Hadipoor, Mohammad Kazemi, Farzad Zolghadr and Omid Amidi who will fight against their rivals in Open Taekwondo Championships.

Sajad Mardani who dropped out of Manchester competitions at the quarter final round will not accompany Iran’s national team in these competitions.

Croatia’s WTF G1 competitions will also be held on November 7 - 8 and the Iranian national Taekwondo team is likely to be present there.
