The objectives of Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s trip to Iran include development of political relations between Iran and Germany, consultations on the implementation of the nuclear deal as well as discussion on the regional issues.
Steinmeier is scheduled to meet and talk with Mohammad Javad Zarif, Hasan Rouhani as well as the Parliament Speakr Ali Larijani.
After Iran and the 5+1 reached an agreement, the German Federal Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel had travelled to Tehran at top of an economic delegation while Steinmeier would be the second German official who has visited Iran in the recent months.
On Sunday, Frank-Walter Steinmeier will leave Tehran for Riyadh to exchange views with Saudi officials on the issue of combatting terrorist groups.
The German foreign minister will then travel to Jordan to have consultations with Jordan authorities on issues of terrorism and refugees.
Since the advent of terrorism in the Middle East and North Africa, Europe has also witnessed terrorist attacks while in the recent months, the flood of immigration from countries affected by extremism and terrorism has caused serious problems in EU.
On the other hand, the Islamic Republic of Iran has strongly fought against terrorist activities from the beginning and today more than ever, the Europeans feel the vital and undeniable role of Iran in resolving the terrorism crisis and consequently preventing the immigration crisis.
